Leitmotifs in Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu

Never Realm |
This ostinato is, notably, the first theme to represent a location (other than ninjago, which encompasses a lot more than just the location). Most versions of this leitmotif are composed of three twelve-note arpeggio patterns on strings, although the specifics vary between instances. Variations of it are used to represent the Formlings, as well as the kingdom and its soldiers before they were turned.
Ice Fishers |
A laid-back but proud melody composed of a repeated ten-note pattern and its variations. It is played usually on instruments you would typically hear in folk music, although during scenes like the village fortification montage in "Fire Maker" the leitmotif is played on orchestral strings and horns.
Corruption |
A slow and ominous 8 note motif representing the corruption of Zane and the Never Realm under both the forbidden scroll’s and Vex’s influence. The melody itself is actually an altered, darker version of the scroll’s 8 note motif for this reason, and it is often associated with Vex because of his involvement in the corruption.
Blizzard Samurai/Ice Faction |
A dark, repeating four-note phrase on strings which represents The Ice Emperor's army. The notes themselves are the first three notes of Zane's theme in a minor key, referencing their relation to Zane's power as the Ice Emperor. In the cue and episode both titled “Corruption”, the high strings playing the variation of the never realm ostinato for the castle’s soldiers changes into the blizzard samurai motif, so during that scene, both visually and musically the soldiers are turned into Blizzard Samurai.
