Leitmotifs in Possession
Morro |
Morro has two different leitmotifs, both played on viola. The first is a legato phrase composed of a fifth followed by a tritone/diminished fifth and ending in a grace note. The tritone and minor 9th intervals create an incredibly creepy and tense atmosphere, usually marking Morro’s arrival. The second leitmotif is slightly more accented, encompassing an altered six-note melody with heavy vibrato, which seems to represent more of his emotional side. These leitmotifs are played with different tones and accompaniments depending on the situation.
